Join us and guests Nathalie Rodriguez and Denise Goitia for Honoring the True Roots of Herbalisim, a dialogue about plants, decolonization and liberation.

This dialogue is an offering for all of us to connect to our unique ancestral ways of working with plants, bodies, and healing traditions in service of decolonization work. Nathalie and Denise will introduce and explore plant allies that support resilience, ancestral work, and joy. This dialogue will be interactive and co-created with participants.

Nathalie (she/they) is a queer bilingual herbalist, embodied community healer, and psychotherapist descended from a long lineage of Afro-Cuban healers and Gallega intuitives. Her work is guided by ancestral wisdom, contemplative training, clinical social work education, and lived experience with cancer. Nathalie has spent over ten years offering presence, care, and support to people in all stages of healing.  Nathalie is skilled at creating space for healing through life’s liminal times of initiation and transformation. Nathalie has been a devoted student of plant medicine throughout their life and completed two years of apprenticeship with the Sacred Warrior School of Holistic Herbalism. Nathalie loves making herbal remedios to support their community during liminal times. In her free time, Nathalie loves dancing with her preschooler, savoring moments of stillness, and playing in the woods. Violet, Lemon Balm, and Burdock are some of Nathalie's favorite plant allies.

Denise Goitia descends from Mexican and European ancestors, and grew up in southwest Texas in a bicultural and bilingual household. She studied herbalism at the California School of Herbal Studies and learned the most about plants through oral tradition from loved ones, and by spending time with the plants. Her conscious relationship with plants started in 2005 while working at Full Belly Farm in Guinda, CA. Later, she studied holistic nutrition, massage, and herbal medicine. She offers herbal clearing practices (limpias) and studies in an herbal residency program with Botanical Bus in Sonoma County, CA https://thebotanicalbus.org/. Denise currently works as a clinical social worker at UC Berkeley on Huichin Ohlone land and lives in Point Reyes Station of the Coast Miwok.
